Make yourself available and commit to a time where it's only for you and God. Make time to read His word and pray for understanding. God promised that He will be found by those who seek Him. (Jeremiah 29:30)
Wrestle with the Scripture
Don't be afraid to read the parts of the Bible that are hard to understand. Ask questions! This will motivate you to study the Word and seek God even more.
Be Creative
Write down what you've been learning in a journal, have sticky notes in your Bible, write down the Scripture on a card, etc. Do things that will help you understand God's word.
Partner a devotional book during your devotions will also help you gain insights about the Word.
Obey
Spiritual maturity comes not in what you know but in what you do.
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. (James 1:22)
