As Christians, we have a unique perspective that can help us navigate the challenges of disappointment and find hope in the midst of it all. In this blog, we will explore how we can face disappointment from a Christian standpoint, using biblical insights, and practical guidance to help you overcome disappointment and find renewed hope in God.

We often pray “Lord, let Your will be done.”  As Christian women, when making life decisions or in pursuing our dreams we want to make sure that it’s His will that prevails. 

But with all life’s possibilities and options, how can we really know what’s God’s will and what’s not?

If you are in the midst of making decisions and you are seeking God’s will, here are some things to think about...

In Romans 12:2, Paul said that the way believers are transformed is through the renewing of the mind. He says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

What does renewing our minds mean?

First off, before we talk about the benefits of the renewed minds, we need to ask what does it mean to renew one’s mind?

In the NLT translation of Romans 12:2, it says “ Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” Renewing your mind simply means changing the way you think. 

If we’re being honest, we’d say that waiting on God is not an easy thing to do. We may know intellectually that He is doing something, but in the midst of waiting, we can grow impatient and even doubtful about the outcome of our situation. We may doubt that God is on the throne and He reigns...both now and for eternity.

When we are waiting for the answer to our prayers,

When we are waiting for God’s healing,

When we are waiting for His provision,

When we are waiting for the bad situation to turn out for our good…

Those times are when we are most vulnerable to the enemy’s destructive lies.

Have you ever felt paralyzed just because of one thought that entered your mind? Maybe it’s fear because of your situation, or a thought that whispered how unworthy you are and much of a failure you are. Whatever it is, it starts with one thought-- one thought that has now filled you with all these negative emotions about yourself and your situation that threatens to take away your hope, peace and  joy, and brings such heaviness in your soul.

When we are hurt, we often feel that “someone should pay.” But Jesus would respond, “I paid.”

I don’t take the journey of forgiveness lightly. It is a treacherous road that I was personally entrusted to walk out myself, as you may have been. That journey taught me that careless advice about how to survive the most indescribable pain following what is often a life shattering experience, will harm more than help. This is sacred ground in need of empathy that comes from personal experience. Thank you Jesus, that You know this most intimately and uphold us in our pain!
